It seems to happen two or three times a season in recent years that the Frente Atlético give us a reason to once again argue for them to be expelled and banned from the stadium and supporting Atlético Madrid. This was another of those where Atleti fans felt shame as their own “fans” threw objects onto the field of play to pelt items at Thibaut Courtois.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed his disappointment after his team conceded a last-minute goal to draw 1-1 with Atlético Madrid in a heated La Liga derby on Sunday. Despite dominating the majority of the match, Real Madrid were unable to secure all three points at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Ancelotti acknowledged his team’s control of the game but was frustrated that Atletico managed to equalize deep into stoppage time, leaving Real Madrid to settle for just a point.
Thibaut Courtois hit with ‘Bag of Faeces’ as Madrid derby …..
The LaLiga match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid was halted in the 2nd half after fans allegedly threw objects at Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer found himself in the midst of the chaos, forced to pause the game as Courtois dealt with the onslaught of objects. The interruption saw Courtois, hesitant to proceed with a goal kick, clearing more items from the pitch. He was also hit by a lighter on the head, which some reports have claimed had a knife in it
But it is the Courtois saga with the fans that has been catching all the attention. Militao’s goal led to a contentious atmosphere that soon spiralled out of control. Objects began raining down from the stands, filled with Atletico Madrid supporters clad in their team’s red and white, targeting Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. With several lighters and other items thrown at him, the safety of the players came into question. As per reports, a bag of faeces was also hurled at the Belgian goalkeeper, who has since been pictured while putting it away.
Fede Valverde’s importance…….
Valverde covers so many aspects of this Real Madrid team, that it is difficult to imagine how the club would cope in his absence. He broke into the team in 2019, and since then, his role has always gotten bigger and he’s always gotten better. He led the team in tackles and interceptions (three each) and has easily become the most important player in Real Madrid’s midfield after Toni Kroos’ departure.
Going back to the football, Fede Valverde was, once again, and by far, the best Real Madrid player. In fact, he was the best player on the pitch, full stop.
So much of what Atletico Madrid tried to do to hurt Real Madrid during transitions and counters was limited because of Valverde’s defensive acumen and aggressiveness. He’s not always running at the opponent. He picks his moments, and it seems like he is getting better at it with each passing game.
Carlo Ancelotti’s substitutions were… interesting
It’s probably been said by many people so this will be a short section — but something wasn’t quite right with the substitutions that Ancelotti made against Atletico.
They didn’t contribute directly to the goal conceded at the death, but they compromised Real Madrid’s build-up, structure and momentum. Having more attackers does not mean the team would be better at attacking, and the same can be said about defending.
Real Madrid had four full-backs and two centre-backs in their lineup towards the end of the game, which is just an odd sight. Then, in the presser, Ancelotti stood by his decision and it didn’t make much sense. He is usually quick to accept criticism, but apparently there is no criticism to accept here, which was a bit odd.

Thibaut Courtois—7: Made some crucial saves though his match will be remembered for “antagonizing” the crowd.
Dani Carvajal—7: Some fantastic first time passes in the first half to play his teammates through on goal.
Antonio Rudiger—6.5: Only blemish will be the goal conceded where he kept Correa onside.
Eder Militao—9: A performance worthy of calling Militao the best center back in the world. In this type of form, there are very few better. Scored a brilliant volley and defended immaculately all game long.
Ferland Mendy—5: Poor in possession with a number of loose passes conceding possession in dangerous areas.
Tchouameni—6: A strange game for the Frenchman, who was a standout defensively but offered very little on the ball.
Luka Modric—7: Some late challenges in the first half that he likely would have timed well in his younger years but was important in build-up with his ability to slow the game down and give Madrid control.
Fede Valverde—6.5: Played more as a right midfielder than centrally which limited some of his impact. Despite not having his best game was still a crucial piece to Madrid’s game plan.
Jude Bellingham—8.5: Carlo Ancelotti needs to develop a tactical plan that gets Jude the ball more often — particularly in tough atmospheres like the Wanda. Never phased by pressure and always picked the right pass.
Vinicius Junior—6.5: Registered an assist on the Militao goal and gave Le Normand and Gimenez trouble when operating centrally.
Rodrygo—5: Never really got going in the match but was brought down in the box for what looked like a clear penalty not awarded or even reviewed by VAR.
Substitutions:
Lucas Vazquez—5: Played too deep on the goal conceded.
Fran Garcia—6: Drew a foul from Marcos Llorente that led to a red card for the Atletico Madrid player.
Endrick—N/A: Nearly scored another goal like the Stuttgart stunner with an early shot from a counter attacking position.

The result put Barcelona three points clear at the top, despite their loss to Osasuna on Sunday. The match was temporarily suspended after Atletico fans threw objects, including lighters, at players. The match, at Atletico’s Metropolitano stadium, was disrupted by home supporters with Real Madrid leading 1-0, through Eder Militao’s second-half goal.
