Barcelona Reaches 1:1 Total Agreement with Nike: New Contract Pending Signature …..

Date:

After months of negotiations, FC Barcelona has finally reached a total agreement with sportswear giant Nike. The deal, which is verbally agreed upon, awaits a formal signing ceremony.

Barcelona Want to Be 1:1 in This January…..

During the summer, Barcelona failed in their efforts to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, and this meant that only Dani Olmo could be signed as a first team player. Club officials have vowed to ensure that this won’t be the case for future transfer windows, and it appears that sooner rather than later, that promise will be fulfilled.

According to MD, Barcelona believe that they have reached an agreement with Nike over a new sponsorship contract. The two parties currently have a deal until 2028, but this will be extended.

As part of this new deal, Barcelona would receive a massive renewal bonus, and it is this money that would allow them to finally return to the 1:1.

SUMMERY….

Barcelona will approve the new contract at its Assembly next month, as it is pending the protocol act of signing. However, the club is already counting the new figures towards its budget for this season, so there is a lot of confidence that things will be finalised in the near future.

The current contract with Nike, set to expire in 2028, will be extended, along with an increase in the financial compensation the club receives, which is expected to exceed €100 million.

Additionally, Barcelona will receive a renewal bonus that will enable the club to comply with LaLiga’s 1:1 Fair Play rule, helping them in signing and registering players ahead of the winter transfer market.

The new financial terms with Nike are already included in the budget for the 2024/25 season, which the board of directors will approve during an extraordinary meeting this Monday. This follows a delay in approval last Thursday, requested by auditors finalizing the audit report.

Details of the agreement remain undisclosed. A key point of contention in recent months has been Nike’s interest in acquiring a percentage of Barça Licensing and Merchandising (BLM).

On June 16, 2022, the assembly of club members authorized the board to sell up to 49% of BLM to ensure that Barça retains majority control over this crucial revenue stream. However, this “lever” has yet to be activated.

Either way, there is now a full agreement in place with Nike which will help Barcelona return to the 1:1 rule heading into the winter.

Key Moments of this Deal ……..

  1. Contract Extension: The current contract with Nike, set to expire in 2028, will be extended. As part of the new agreement, Barcelona will receive an increase in financial compensation, expected to exceed €100 million.
  2. Renewal Bonus: Barcelona will also receive a renewal bonus. This bonus is crucial because it will enable the club to comply with LaLiga’s 1:1 Fair Play rule. Essentially, it helps them sign and register players ahead of the winter transfer market.
  3. Budget Inclusion: The new financial terms with Nike are already included in the budget for the 2024/25 season. The board of directors is set to approve this during an extraordinary meeting.
  4. Undisclosed Details: While the specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, it’s worth noting that Nike had expressed interest in acquiring a percentage of Barça Licensing and Merchandising (BLM). However, this aspect has yet to be activated.
  5. Return to 1:1 Rule: With this agreement, Barcelona is poised to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, which limits player signings based on financial constraints.

The signing ceremony is expected to take place after an assembly of club delegates, likely scheduled for Saturday, October 19. Fans can look forward to an extended partnership between Barcelona and Nike, ensuring the iconic blaugrana kits continue to grace the football world.

Stay tuned for the official announcement
