iPhone 16 pro
Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 16 series in a matter of hours. The main attraction is tipped to be Apple Intelligence, an AI platform on the iPhone 16. It’s already available to try as part of a developer beta for iOS 18.1 on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro. Hardware upgrades to the cameras and display, among other features, are expected too.
iPhone 16 release date
Apple is holding an event at Apple Park on Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. New iPhones typically go on sale shortly after the event, usually the Friday of the following week. That would mean the iPhone 16 release date could be Friday, September.
Apple iPhone 16 Pro Price in India
In India, the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) now starts at ₹1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB) is priced at ₹1,44,900. This is a notable decrease from last year’s iPhone 15 Pro prices, where the iPhone 15 Pro was launched at ₹1,34,990 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max at ₹1,56,990. Apple has kept the international prices of the iPhone 16 Pro series the same, making this price cut specific to the Indian market.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus remain at the same price point. The standard model with 128GB storage starts at Rs 79,990 and the iPhone 16 Plus starts at Rs 89,990.
iPhone 16 design
The rumors of larger screen sizes are piling in, at least for select iPhone 16 models. The Korean publication, the Elec, published a report saying select iPhone 16 models are poised to adopt an innovative screen technology, resulting in thinner bezels, the frame around the phone’s screen. This development could translate to a slightly larger screen area for some iPhone 16 models.
Apple has historically introduced display upgrades in its Pro line of products, before sometimes trickling them down to lower-cost models afterwards. Display manufacturers have reportedly introduced a novel border reduction structure technology, enabling more compact control circuitry and ultimately leading to slimmer bezels.
iPhone 16 Pro Features
Apple has made significant improvements to the camera technology in the iPhone 16 Pro series. Both models now come with a 5x telephoto lens, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The primary camera is a 48 MP fusion camera with a second-generation quad-pixel sensor, allowing users to capture 48 MP RAW images. Additionally, Apple has introduced a 48 MP ultra-wide camera for better macro shots.
Apple is also leaning heavily into AI with its new “Apple Intelligence” features, which offer smarter Siri responses and deeper integration with tools like ChatGPT. These features will streamline tasks such as messaging, email, and proofreading, improving overall user experience. Some of these AI capabilities will be rolled out in the iOS 18 beta later this year.
Apple’s decision to lower prices in India while keeping them steady internationally shows a clear focus on making its high-end phones more b accessible in one of its key markets. With the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max offering premium features and advanced technology, the price drop will likely attract more customers in India, further boosting Apple’s presence in the region.
One of the standout upgrades in the iPhone 16 Pro models is the larger display size. The iPhone 16 Pro now comes with a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a massive 6.9-inch display. Both models feature thinner bezels, providing users with even more screen space without making the phones bulkier
iPhone 16 colors
Apple announced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will come in white and black (ho-hum) as well as teal (minty green), pink (and is it ever a bright pink), and ultramarine (an ocean blue color). There’s something kind of Miami Vice about the bright new hues.

iPhone 16 Pro colors
According to Gurman, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models sport the following colorways:

The current-gen iPhone 15 Pro models come in Blue Titanium, Black Titanium, White Titanium, and Natural Titanium.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus: A18 chip, Apple Intelligence, and Camera Control button
The new vanilla iPhones – iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – look reminiscent of their predecessors, except for the redesigned camera island, which now has a pill shape much like the iPhone X. Here on the iPhone 16 this design is to enable Spatial Capture. The screens measure the same, 6.1 inches for the iPhone 16 and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 16 Plus, with the Dynamic Island.
The biggest upgrade for the new vanilla iPhones is its chip. With A18 under the hood, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, will have the support for Apple Intelligence due for release in October. The A18 chip also has better graphics performance, and now can play AAA titles previously released for the Pro iPhones
The two vanilla iPhones now have the Action Button replacing the much loved Ring/Silent Switch. Joining the Action Button on the iPhone 16 is the Camera Control button, a capacitive button that works similar to a shutter button on cameras. So, as the name implies, it opens up the Camera app and then let you take a picture, focus, zoom in and out.
